| What's your opinion?
It's been quiet for a bit, I hope everyone is having a great holiday season.
What are your thoughts on this site? Anything you'd like to see, or not see? Maybe more games, or contests?

Hi Jacob-
Here is my opinion. My likes, dislikes and wishes. I would like to see within a day or two the winners of tri cup, city, captains, top gun, etc posted with a little highlight of the event. I wish this site had more information about the teams. How they are doing, etc. More about the goings on in the league. Not games or contest unrelated to our league. The football that Clay does I think is ok as it is seasonal, just a post and a contest that the prize you win is free league one week, so this is APA related. I would like to see it more like some of the other APA league websites, not such a personal chat place. And I don't understand why you need to log in to see the stats. Yet you don't have to log in to see the chatting. I follow my friends who play in South Louisiana on their website. It is always updated within a day or two. The site looks great. Many APA sites look good. I have never given them our site to follow because I am ashamed for them to see ours. I don't like the language that is sometimes used in the chatting, so maybe this could be behind “closed doors”. Oh wait- they couldn’t see the stats anyway because they would have to a member. Also, I don't like when someone post an opinion or ask a question that sometime they are answered by someone who has admin rights to the website with such a nasty response, and still the persons question was never answered. Often the response to someone asking when something will be updated is that you work and are busy and you volunteer for this site. I can appreciate this and I appreciate the time you give to this site. But I think if all you had to do was update the important stuff like mention above and not create games and maintain them ( as I am sure this takes time) it would be easier for you. Or I am sure there is someone in our league that would have the time it takes to do updates. They could help you. It could be more than one person. What I do like is that you removed League Bitch from under your name. That was offensive to me and anyone coming to our website didn’t need a login to see this. Thank you for making this change. This website represents all of us that play for this league. I would like to see a site that is professional and we can be proud of and not embarrassed to share our link with someone else. A place where ligament questions are answered timely and with respect. I have looked at many other APA sites so I am sure others members have looked at ours. I also like our new APA pool room and now Robbie is able to post the schedule of tournaments way ahead of time so we can all make our plans. I also like when news is shared like someone is sick or has passed. We may know a lot of players from over the years that we only see in the big tournaments so without this news getting to us via this web site we may not know. So of course a place for that I think would be good. I’m sure there are plenty of our members that have great ideas. Jacob, I hope this has not angered you or anyone else at me. I appreciate everyone that volunteers for our league. I am replying to “what is your opinion?” and this is mine.
Have a blessed day,
Eva – AKA- Mama Moody

Robbie does the posting of the standings, MVP, schedules, rosters and such still right? Everything seems to be up to date and that is very much appreciated.
As far as chatting, there really isn't much of that going on these days.....I have managed this site for about 2 years now and it used to be 10x's more....now it's just the occasional question. I really haven't seen anyone being rude in answering questions lately, but if they are, you can always bring it to my attention and I will see what can be done to remedy that situation.
And I agree w/ Eva as far as speedy updates on the tournaments and such. Also when a league finishes that does not have a play-off (such as our N.W. 9-ball division), who qualified for City is nice to know. I haven't the foggiest clue who qualified last session.....

What I have noticed is that the stats are not updated frequently enough to keep up with the player rankings. I know in another area that i played in in southeast texas they gave you a bonus point if your score sheet was turned in on time and completly filled out correctly. That is a little incentive for getting the scorsheets in faster. They need a drop box on the Fast Eddies side of town. You have three team out of there and everyone has to mail there scoresheets in because the drive is ridiculus to drop off a score sheet. Make apperances. This is my second session i have not seen the league operator in our home place yet. I have only seen him one time. In my other league the League Operator use to have a capitans meeting before each session and go over some of the rules and get opinions. This is just a few things that i think would make it better. Check out this website it is simple and it is always up to date. He up dates it every Sunday night. This is how it is suppose to work. APA POOL LEAGUE OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS HOME |

I would like to have the MVP tournament looked at before the start of a new year. Players in a division with 16 teams have to get around 30 MVP points or more to be eligable to place, where as smaller divisions with only 6 teams have to only get only around 10 MVP points or more to be eligable. Most divisions play the same amount of matches per session, so it should be based on a percentage of "players to MVP winners" in each division to keep it fair across the board for all.
The weekly football contest is great and keeps members returning to the web site on a weekly basis, but it only lasts part of the year. Several other events could be incorperated into the same format.
Pictures of special events, tri-cup, & city are great, of course more stats and results would be nice to follow. A Patches and achievments page would be a cool addition.
I appreciate all that is done to keep out the spammers and excessive advertisments off of this web site. My help or contribution is allways offered if needed...... Happy Holidays Everyone & Good Luck in 2010

I'd like to see the APA youtube videos available via our site. There's some really good stuff out there and either the embedded video or links to them would be good, in my honest opinion.
I also think that if you add those videos (or links), they should be available regardless of whether you'v'e registered and logged in (since they're already available on youtube).
This is features the co-founder, Terry Bell. It's one of the best ones I've seen there. It adresses my #1 pet peeve, sandbagging/defensive shots:
I'd also like to see all registered members show up with basic information available through the members link. Not all registered members currently show up there.
I don't mind the contests and wouldn't mind winning a free night of league play. My only observation is that the contests don't relate to pool at all and if you're not a fan of whatever sport and keep up with it, you don't have as much chance to win. IMHO, a vote related contest would be better, for best pool playing tip or video and the member with the highest number of votes wins.
I'd also like to get a link to main APA member site so I can easily check my personal stats. https://members.poolplayers.com/default.aspx
Finally, it'd be nice to have the stats reports setup so that I can download all of them (Roster, MVP, Standings) in one pdf by just selecting my division, instead of having to visit all 3 links, open each file and manually download it. Better yet, maybe this could be set up as a subscription in my profile and have all the files emailed to me when they're updated. And btw, why am I not getting'Stats have been updated' anymore?

Lots of comments- some easy and some harder
1) Dedicated section to higher level tournaments
To keep us informed on single qualifiers, double qualifiers, tri-cup, city, scotch doubles, Jack and Jill, single regionals, etc...
2) Dedicated section to local tournaments (MVP and Captain)
3) Monthly newsletter updating info -- who is qualified, who did what in vegas, upcoming events, etc...
4) many other things, etc...
On a different note, I'd like to see
1) more scotch doubles and jack and jill events
2) more single qualifiers
3) Captains and MVP tournaments spread out, perhaps one a month instead of all grouped together
4) MVP used to be harder to get in to, wouldn't mind seeing that again. Modification of MVP awards
5) Captains meetings for each session
6) Weekend Playoffs
From the players, I'd like to see
1) More participation in singles, Scotch doubles, jack and jill

| Re: What's your opinion?
Thanks for asking our opinion and understanding our concerns!!
As the "mother hen" on our team, I am responsible for getting stats to my captain and coach and encouraging my players to be available to play when needed. Our team plays on Thursday nights and I don't usually see any updates until Wednesday evening and sometimes Thursday morning..so definately would like to see updates alot quicker on website.
Also, I would like to see more notices going out about tournaments in the packets. Not everyone is on the internet and I have had many people in my division tell me if it is not in the packet, they don't know about it.
As for more participation at qualifiers...totally agree...but again, if people don't know about them in advance, they can't prepare for them (work, kids, etc).
Since starting APA and playing pool in the fall session of 2008, I have met alot of great people and pool players and my game has really come along way. But this past session I was very discouraged due to some mishandling of tournament stuff and some very bad sportsmanship within our division. In fact I have debated strongly about coming back to APA, but I love playing pool and the competition and do not want to see all the hard work I have put into improving go to waste. I would love to see a little more on our website, a little more participation by our league operator as well as our division rep. I too think we should see our league operator sometime during a session during regular night play, not just at tournaments. I think our division rep should be a little more informed about team locations being moved..it seems the first game of every session gets screwed up someway because teams have no idea where they are playing...
I have rambled enough...thanks for listening and good luck to everyone this session!!!

| Re: What's your opinion?
My opinion on this subject is that the website takes a little long to be updated... For example.. the standings, the mvp/top gun reports, rosters etc... Yes i do understand that during the first four weeks of play that things are able to change such as the rosters, schedules etc, which is probably why yall dont bother with it that much the first four weeks... But what about after the first four weeks? I see no reason why the standings cant be updated within a couple of days so we, as well as other teams, can see how we're doing.. the mvp/top gun report as well...and the rosters so we can keep up with our teams handicaps as well as others. Is there a reason why it takes a week or in most cases a little longer to be updated? Why is it that other APA websites only take a day or two to update their information and ours doesnt? I would also like to see who the winners of the tournaments (such as the captain and co captains, mvp, top gun, tri cup, or even cities) are a day or two after, not a week or two after the tournament. I think everyone including myself would really like to see a big change in this situation....I hope i havent upset or offended anybody by what i wrote. The title for this topic was "What's your opinion?"... Well now you have it... Have a nice day
